50/50 Parkway Tree Replacement Program
The Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) has affected numerous Ash trees in the Village and will likely continue to have a detrimental impact on the remaining Ash trees within the next few years. To keep parkways in the Village attractive and to protect property values, the Village has removed infested trees as the first priority which will be followed by the replacement of parkway trees to the extent possible.
With limited funds available to commit to this replacement process, the Village is offering a 50/50 Parkway Tree Replacement Program to residents on a voluntary basis to increase the impact of the funds available and to expedite the replacement. If the homeowner adjacent to the location where a parkway tree was removed would like to participate in this program, the Village will split the cost to acquire, plant, and mulch the tree with the resident.
To participate, simply complete the form enclosed, select the type of tree desired, and return the form along with a check in the amount specified to the address included on the form by September 23, 2016. At this time, only one parkway tree per household will be granted for the fall planting, which will be completed in October.
This program is on a strictly voluntary basis. If the property owner does not wish to participate in this program, do nothing. The Village will continue to schedule the replacement of parkway trees as funds allow.
Questions about this program should be directed to Public Works Department, (847) 526-9610.
