Drug Drop-off Box

The Wauconda Police Department lobby houses both a Sharps Disposal Bin and a Pill Collection Unit. Anyone may drop off unwanted medication as well as needles that are placed in a sharps approved container. Please do not deposit any liquids in the collection unit or any loose needles into the disposal bin.

  • Homeopathic remedies
  • Medication samples
  • Pet medications
  • Vitamins and supplements

Not Accepted

  • Bloody or infectious waste
  • Empty containers
  • Hydrogen Peroxide
  • Any liquid medications, creams or ointments
  • IV bags
  • Personal care products
  • Thermometers


What are medical Sharps?
  • Syringes
  • Hypodermic Needles
  • Needles attached to tubing
  • Lancets
To properly dispose of needles, do the following:
  • MUST use a approved disposal container.
  • The Biohazard Red Sharps Container you use must be H: 7 3/4in. x W 4in. x D 5 1/4in. or smaller.
  • Find a collection center for proper disposal, like the collection box located at the Wauconda Police Department.
  • DO NOT deposit any loose sharps into the collection bin. Sharps must be in an approved container.
