The Office of the Village Administrator is located at the Wauconda Village Hall, 101 N. Main Street, Wauconda. The Village Administrator oversees the operations of the following departments:
The Village of Wauconda’s Financial Department promotes excellence in government financial management. Visit the Finance Department’s website to view information about the Village’s Operating Budgets and Budget Policies.
The Wauconda Police Department views its primary mission as guarding the rights of all persons to be free from crime and providing public safety services for all residents, businesses and visitors that will protect them and promote a safe environment.
The primary responsibility of the Building, Zoning and Planning Department is to monitor and regulate all building construction in the Village to assure compliance with the applicable, adopted Building Codes. The department also has the responsibility to oversee the Zoning Ordinances of the Village to assure that compliance is being maintained. The Department also identifies and recommends changes to the Ordinances when necessary.
It takes a lot to keep the Village of Wauconda running; providing safe drinking water and wastewater treatment facilities, the lighting, paving and plowing of streets, the maintenance of drainage ditches and sewers, the upkeep of parkway trees, and the installation of signs to guide you. At the Public Works Department we build, maintain and manage the things you rely on everyday.
The Economic Development Department is dedicated to business growth, retention and attraction. This website contains current information on demographics, available properties, and contact information to assist in new site selection. The Comprehensive Plan adopted in 2006 is also available to give developers the ability to view the Village’s vision for future growth and redevelopment. The Village provides an expedited review process and has a cooperative approach to redevelopment. Our Economic Development Department is available to assist the exiting business community with expansion, workforce, and local government issues, as well as provide developers, brokers, and site selectors with dedicated staff involvement.
The Environmental Quality Department was created in 2004. The Department aids in maintaining compliance with Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) requirements and implements and enforces a wastewater pretreatment program in accordance with established Village ordinance. Since the Department was created, it has taken on other responsibilities including stormwater management, hazardous environmental emissions, mosquito control, lake management, National Priorities List (Superfund) site management, leaking underground storage tank (L.U.S.T.) oversight, Solid Waste Agency of Lake County (SWALCO) representation, Illinois Department of Natural Resources consultations, and environmental programs/initiatives.
The Department of Human Resources/Risk Management is an integral part of the organization and is responsible for employee and labor relations.
The Wauconda Emergency Management Agency (EMA) works to provide residents and visitors the highest level of emergency services. We provide these services by coordinating and integrating all activities necessary to mitigate against, prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies and disasters whether natural or man made.
The Village of Wauconda receives Fire and Ambulance services from the Wauconda Fire Protection District.
