From the Department of Economic Development
The Village’s elected officials and administrative staff take a proactive approach to economic development through staff teamwork, streamlined application processes and customized incentives. An involved and cooperative relationship exists between the Village, School District #118, Wauconda Park District, Wauconda Fire Protection District, Wauconda and Fremont Townships, and the existing business community.
Three major highways, US Route 12, US Route 59, and IL Route 176, intersect Wauconda. There is nearby access to commuter trains that connect residents to the business and cultural activities of Chicago, which is approximately 40 miles to the southeast. O’Hare airport is just a short drive from Wauconda.
Recreational resources include a pristine 306 acre lake, nearby golf courses, and the expansive Lakewood Forest Preserve with its Millennium Trail and popular dog parks. The Village’s quality of life attracts and retains a vibrant and diverse residential community that enjoys quality dining and retail, entertainment, and service provider resources.
