From the Economic Development Department

The Village of Wauconda is supported by a number of organizations dedicated to ensuring the success of local businesses. In addition to the Village’s Department of Economic Development, the Village is an active member of the Wauconda Chamber of Commerce and the Lake County Partners (LCP).

The Wauconda Chamber of Commerce is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing support for the Wauconda area business community. The Chamber provides business related seminars, business referrals, networking events and information services for its 320 members. Lake County Partners is an economic development organization that works to maintain and enhance the economic vitality and overall quality of life in Lake County by attracting, retaining and expanding business ventures. In addition to LCP, we would like to offer two other organizations that help support business development:

Illinois Small Business Development Center
Whether you are considering starting a new business, growing an existing business or selling a business, the Illinois Small Business Development Center (SBDC) located at the College of Lake County in Grayslake can assist by providing the following FREE services:

  • One-on-one business counseling
  • Assistance with developing business plans
  • Strategic planning and marketing
  • Support in securing business loans
  • Seminars on important business topics

SBDC also offers a variety of workshops on topics ranging from start-up business planning, marketing, legalities of business ownership, accounting and finance, and commerce and technology. Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity  (DCEO)

DCEO’s Bureau of Business Development administers a wide array of programs and services designed to help Illinois businesses thrive in today’s economy.  The Bureau offers expansion incentives, technology support services, access to capital, and global marketing expertise. Executive Summary

The Village’s elected officials and administrative staff take a proactive approach to economic development through staff teamwork, streamlined application processes and customized incentives. An involved and cooperative relationship exists between the Village, School District #118, Wauconda Park District, Wauconda Fire Protection District, Wauconda and Fremont Townships, and the existing business community.

Three major highways, US Route 12, US Route 59, and IL Route 176, intersect Wauconda. There is nearby access to commuter trains that connect residents to the business and cultural activities of Chicago, which is approximately 40 miles to the southeast. O’Hare airport is just a short drive from Wauconda.

Recreational resources include a pristine 310 acre lake, nearby golf courses, and the expansive Lakewood Forest Preserve with its Millennium Trail and popular dog parks. The Village’s quality of life attracts and retains a vibrant and diverse residential community that enjoys quality dining and retail, entertainment, and service provider resources.
